Mr. Khamis Umar Kiirya leads ESUGA’s legal and governance functions, ensuring compliance with national regulations and institutional policies. He provides legal guidance on organizational matters and supports the development of governance frameworks that protect ESUGA’s integrity. He also contributes to advocacy efforts related to elderly rights and social protection.
Mr. Kiirya is a practicing lawyer with different legal firms in Uganda. He holds a Bachelors of Law from Islamic University in Uganda. He also holds a Diploma in Legal Practice from Law Development Centre, Makerere. Mr. Kiirya has extensive experience in private law practice, especially, litigation and mediation.
Mr. Kiirya is enthusiastic about managing ESUGA’s legal matters and ensuring compliance to national regulatory framework. He envisions high ethical standards throughout ESUGA activities. Effective legal strategies directed to elderly persons and providing legal guidance to ESUGA Executive Board Members and the entire ESUGA work force.
