ESUGA Uganda is
Environment, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (E-WASH)
Esuga Elderly Support Uganda is committed to improving the quality of life of vulnerable and elderly populations through sustainable Environment, Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (E-WASH) interventions. The organization seeks to enhance access to safe, clean, and reliable water for domestic and community use through the development, rehabilitation, and maintenance of water sources such as boreholes, protected springs, and rainwater harvesting systems.
ESUGA further promotes improved sanitation and hygiene practices by supporting the construction, accessibility, and proper utilization of sanitation facilities, including latrines and handwashing stations, particularly among the elderly, underserved and vulnerable households. ESUGA Uganda also conducts community awareness and behavior change campaigns focused on hygiene promotion, disease prevention, and maintaining clean and healthy living environments for elderly persons.
Recognizing the critical relationship between environmental sustainability and public health, ESUGA integrates environmental conservation into all its programming. This includes tree planting initiatives, waste management and recycling activities, environmental protection campaigns, and the promotion of climate-smart and climate-resilient practices aimed at conserving natural resources and mitigating environmental degradation.
Through strong collaboration with local communities, government institutions, civil society organizations, and development partners, ESUGA strives to implement sustainable, inclusive, and community-driven solutions that improve access to safe water, sanitation, hygiene services, and a healthier environment for current and future generations.
