Esuga Elderly Support Uganda (ESUGA) extended a message of compassion and solidarity to vulnerable residents of Loco Village in Jinja City’s Southern Division through a food donation initiative conducted ahead of the Christmas festivities.
The intervention, which provided food and other essential items to community members, was aimed at supporting vulnerable households facing economic hardship, poor health conditions, and limited access to basic social services. The initiative formed part of ESUGA’s ongoing commitment to improving the wellbeing and dignity of disadvantaged populations, particularly elderly persons and vulnerable families.
Speaking during the outreach activity, ESUGA Executive Director, Dr. Rajab Idd Muyingo, emphasized the organization’s commitment to supporting communities beyond immediate relief efforts. He noted that while food assistance helps address urgent needs, ESUGA remains focused on promoting sustainable solutions that improve livelihoods and strengthen community resilience.
Community leaders highlighted several challenges affecting residents, including inadequate healthcare services, poor sanitation, insecurity, unemployment, and the prevalence of waterborne and vector-borne diseases. Residents also called for increased support in areas such as vocational skills development, healthcare access, and community empowerment.
The outreach provided an opportunity for ESUGA leaders and community members to engage in meaningful discussions about long-term solutions to the challenges affecting vulnerable populations. Community representatives expressed gratitude for the support while appealing for continued partnerships that can help improve living conditions and create sustainable opportunities for local residents.
Through initiatives such as these, ESUGA continues to demonstrate its commitment to promoting dignity, social inclusion, and community wellbeing among vulnerable and underserved populations across Uganda.
