On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Esuga Elderly Support Uganda (ESUGA) extends heartfelt appreciation and recognition to the elderly women who have played a vital role in shaping families, communities, and the cultural heritage of Uganda.
Often referred to as the silent pillars of society, many elderly women have dedicated decades of their lives to nurturing families, sustaining agricultural livelihoods, and preserving the wisdom and traditions that continue to guide communities today. Their resilience, sacrifice, and commitment have laid the foundation for the progress we see in society.
As the world embraces rapid technological advancement and social transformation, it remains essential to acknowledge and support the women who have carried communities through generations. Across many households, elderly women continue to serve as primary caregivers, raising grandchildren and providing stability for families despite facing economic hardship and limited access to essential services.
At ESUGA, we believe that efforts to invest in women must also recognize and support senior women. Ensuring dignity, care, and protection in later life is not merely an act of compassion, but a responsibility owed to those who have contributed so much to society.
On this International Women’s Day, ESUGA celebrates the strength, wisdom, and enduring contributions of elderly women. We reaffirm our commitment to advocating for improved healthcare access, social protection, and inclusive community support systems that uplift and honor the voices of senior women.
To the mothers of our past and the inspirations for our future, we see you, we honor you and we thank you.
